# Focus 5..

The #Focus5 project provides in-depth support to young people aged 15-18 across the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) area to move towards education, employment and training. The project will work with 490 young people and support them to develop their employability skills focusing on the five areas of: communication; customer service; organisation; problem solving; team work. Young people will work with a Key Worker to develop their own plan and can also access support from our Specialist Partners on the project.  The #Focus5 project is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund.

Cycle Lake Victoria... An epic 1000 mile African Adventure on two wheels.

Wings member of staff James Lewis and his cycling companion Dave Beard are planning a fund raising adventure! In November 2018 they aim to cycle 1000 miles around Lake Victoria. Starting in Uganda they aim to cycle unsupported around a lake that is twice the size of Wales in 12 days. The plan is to fly to Kampala, Uganda. Visit the Amigos' Kira farm (who they are also fundraising for) to prepare and next morning set off around the lake. They will need to average 80-90 miles each day, passing through Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya before returning to Kira Farm.

The lake is at 1200 metres altitude and the hills around can reach 1700 meters. For riding around a lake it will be surprisingly hilly!

They are going unsupported, which means carrying all of their kit. So they will need to find some form of guest house each night, or a friendly local who will let us sleep on their floor...

It should be aroud 25-30'C each day with a few heavy downpours... They wouldn't want it too easy.
